Millions of dogs and cats enter shelters and rescues every year, many of them waiting far too long for a family to call their own. Subaru believes that has to change — and Garavel Subaru is doing our part right here in our own community.
As part of the national Subaru Loves Pets® initiative, Garavel Subaru has teamed up with TAILS, an all-volunteer nonprofit based in Westport, CT, to help more shelter animals find loving homes and to support the spay/neuter programs that keep local cat and dog populations healthy.

Meet TAILS of Westport, CT
TAILS is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization concentrated in Fairfield County that supports spay/neuter for cats and dogs, runs a foster-based cat adoption program, and helps control the local community cat population. With no paid staff, every dollar donated goes directly toward saving animals.
- Cat adoptions. Kitten and adult cat adoptions are held monthly, including regular events at Petco in Westport/Fairfield.
- Foster program. Volunteers bottle-feed orphaned kittens, socialize litters, and care for senior cats until they're ready for adoption.
- Spay/neuter assistance. Low-cost spay/neuter services and financial help are available for owned, stray, and community cats.
- Trap-neuter-return (TNR). Sterilization and vaccination of community cats, supported by volunteers, caretakers, and partner veterinarians.
- Barncats & mousers. Sterilized, vaccinated working cats are placed in barns and safe outdoor spaces when they aren't suited to life as house pets.
- Feral cat clinics. Volunteer vets and techs provide spay/neuter and vaccination for local cat colonies, funded entirely by donations.
